6 Important things to Consider When Buying an Oriental Rugs

 Buy Oriental Rugs

As a longtime oriental rug gallery owner, I have purchased thousands of handmade oriental rugs. At first, the process was a little daunting and a bit overwhelmed, but over time, I learned through experience and research, and today I would like to share that insight with you.

Important points when considering a potential purchases of Oriental rugs.

Number 1

Color's! Is the color of your rugs aesthetically pleasing? Does the color of your rug give you a sense of joy and happiness? If so, that's a good start.

Number 2

The quality of materials. If the rug is made of wool, is the wool good quality as most hand-woven rugs are? Good quality wool does not feel dry or scratch to the touch and should be fairly resilient. If you push it, will it bounce back? Healthy sheep's hand-woven wool is durable and will last for years. If the rug is silky, it should be as shiny as the sun and will be cool to the touch. If "fake silk" is often referred to as "artificial silk," then it will be much cheaper and not tied very tightly. Be careful with these "art silk" rugs because they are mercerized cotton and the rug does not contain silk.

Number 3

Do you like the picture? The drawing is a carpet layout. It can be geometric based or floral or something in between. Too busy? Too flowers? If you like the color but don't like the design, consider using a rug. Don't buy it. You should like both. We always respect your preferences!

Number 4

Will the size suitable for your requirements? Just a little too big or too small doesn't stop you from buying, but if the rug is the wrong size you should let it go.

Number 5

You can try on an "approval based" rug, This means you can take your rug home and make sure it looks great in the place you envision. All reputable dealer will let you do this, and some dealers like me will even ship rugs based on approval.

Number 6

Do you love it The right rug looks prettier the more you look at it. It never stops offering good quality hand woven rugs with beautiful colors and interesting designs. They will never be boring and over time you will enjoy every day of your life.

One final piece of advice: be very careful when you start sticking over rugs. This art form can be very addictive, so you may have to be a rug dealer to be able to do this all the time!
